Special Features of Project: Studies were carried out to provide inputs in the Transportation Sector into the Integrated Niger Delta Region Economic Development Masterplan. The objectives of the study were the following:
(1) Improvement of Level of Access for Rural Communities,
(2) Improvement of Quality and availability of Transportation Infrastructure with reference to Roads, Waterways, and Railways.
(3) Improvement of Interconnectivity between the Modes (Roads, Water, Rail and Airports),
(4) Improved interconnectivity between Rural, Urban and Regional Centers,
(5) Improvement in Provision of Transportation Services and Facilities (Buses, Taxis, Motor Parks), including Funding. The studies were multi-disciplinary, bringing together experts in several disciplines, including Engineers, Regional Planners, Sociologists, GIS and Economists, with the Engineer in the leadership role.
Role: Amana Consortium was the project leader and brought in experts in other disciplines as necessary.
